Shrine Auditorium, 1920

Shrine Auditorium

The Moorish Revival-style Shrine Auditorium (1925, G. Albert Lansburgh with John C. Austin and A.M. Edelman) replaced an earlier temple on the site, which was destroyed by fire in 1920. Now an event venue and home to the Al Malaikah Temple, a division of the Shriners, the temple has been home to various awards ceremonies including the Academy Awards and the Grammys, and has often been used as a filming location. HRG prepared a historic rehabilitation tax credit application to assist rehabilitation work in the mid-1990s.
